Hello , Please forgive if this is an FAQ, but how do I authorise pop for root? Using ipop3, SuSE 8.0 pro. Have PostFix installed. thanks in advance. -- Best regards, Geordon mailto:gvantass@interaccess.com PGP Key ID: 0xFCF06B79 Your Fortune ==> "There are two theories about arguing with women ............................Neither one works."
Seems like a BAD idea... ipop3 sends password in plaintext. Anyone packet sniffing would get your root password... Suggest you forward roots mail to someone else ( or yourself). You should, if possible, use ipop3s ( pop3 through ssl) which encripts all communication between server and client. Geordon VanTassle wrote:

Not at all. You put all root mail to the account of the admin, maybe "geordon" or maybe invent "rootmail" exactly for this. Root shouldn't get mail delivered of course. oki, Steffen -- Dieses Schreiben wurde maschinell erstellt, es trägt daher weder Unterschrift noch Siegel.
