Multiport NICs (again...?)
Hi all! I'm looking for multiport (PCI 32bit, 33MHz) Network interface Cards... (4+ Ports would be great - needed for high availability firewall with DMZ etc.) I found so far: - znyx (4 Port - drivers as source) - SMC (2 Port - drivers in suse 7.1 ... (but later...?)) - intel (2 Port - drivers by intel...) Has anyone any experience with multiport NICs (preferably using SuSE 8.2 stable kernel 2.4.20+) 1000 thanx, cheers, Arndt -- Arndt Faulhaber mailto:arndt.faulhaber@diagnosdata.com

I am using a D-Link DFE-580TX 4 Port Ethernet card (for building a firewall, like you do). Worked like a charm for me while testing it with Debian Woody (after getting the recent sundance kernel module). Altho the firewall is not in production use, my stress tests went fine. I guess the card should also work fine with SuSE. This card uses the "sundance" kernel module, i use the most recent driver available from : http://www.scyld.com/network/ethercard.html The old sundance module, that came with debian woody did not work. best regards, Tom
