Hallo! I have a Problem, with ipsec-router on SuSE 8.0 and WinXP as Client VPN. 1. With version of freeS/WAN did I need? Good question. Marcus Müller http://vpn.ebootis.de/ recommends 1.96. SuSE packages are available at http://www.suse.de/~garloff/linux/FreeSWAN/ The version of the X.509 patch might be more interesting, because with newer versions the configuration is easier (ok, it depends on what you're doing).
2. Must the kernel new compiled to use frees/WAN ? No. If you use a SuSE kernel, you're ready to go.
3. With other services must be installed and configured ? Routing and iptables.
