Hello municipality
a question who has iptables and tsdl already to run gotten without problme with mail www etc..
T-DSL (the German Telekom variant of ADSL) works perfectly well with iptables/ipchains, because the netfilter code does not even know about it. :-) Use "ifconfig -a" and "route -n" to see that the DSL-connection uses ppp0 as the interface, and not eth0, where it is only bound to. From that perspective, the DSL-dialup is to be considered a modem. If you sniff the traffic on eth0 (via "tcpdump -nvvei eth0"), then you see the ppp packets coming in, and they are not displayed as something reasonable. Sniff on ppp0 instead, and you will see them. The pppoe implementation always uses the first available ppp device (which is ppp0), but if you have a modem interface up and running at the same time, you'd use ppp1 instead. So watch out which interface you use when you write firewall rules.
I need little assistance Nils
