There is nothing funny about it. As much as I dislike Microsoft, this is still a criminal act. Avi Matthew Johnson wrote:

If the report is correct - which I expect to be from a source like the BBC, this is very serious. It affects each and everyone who dares to use a PC. As much as I loath Microsoft, it remains the most popular desktop OS - and as such a security breach of this nature could impact on the world as a whole. Just think of it: MS not being able to trust their source code for removing bugs! Nico

Hi Avi and friends all, No one knows how deep they got, and how much did they borrow from $MS. It has to be much, BBC reporting on Microsoft, sounds strange. Pity that we do not know for sure, bust just to be malicious, wont it be some $MS campaign or some thing baking or been prepared?? Sci-Fi. Who knows. But will have great consecuences, for sure. Stay tunned. Cheers!! =:`8) Avi Schwartz wrote:

Anyone done a whois on microsoft.com in the last few months?? *grin* (And don't bother flaming me, I realise how this is done, and that ms is not hacked, but I still think it's damn funny!!) Nix # whois microsoft.com Whois Server Version 1.3 Domain names in the .com, .net, and .org domains can now be registered with many different competing registrars. Go to http://www.internic.net for detailed information. Matthew, this is a hoax, sorry.

If you do a whois by typing "microsoft.com" all entries are shown. The owners of TERRORISTS.NET, HACKERJACK.COM, SUBVERSIVES.NET and LINUXCLUE.COM just have registered some (funny) subdomains. That's all. best Regards Bodo -- ___________________________________________ Bodo Noering Consulting Zur Alten Faehre 23 · D-45219 Essen Phone +49-2054-971790 · Fax +49-2054-971791 bn@urania.com · http://www.urania.com ___________________________________________

Sorry, but you mix two things together. This was a real crack into the M$ system. The crackers have copies of the sources. And the M$ people are not sure, if they perhaps modified the sources. I think this again is a very important argument for free software. If a crack like this will be unnoticed in a company, this is a very bis security hole for everyone using Win****! With open source software attacks like that are not possible.
