[opensuse-security] Latest qemu related patch has permission issues
Hi, After installing the qemu related upgrade I have noticed the following message: ( 7/11) Installing: qemu-tools-1.3.1-3.4.1 ....................[done] Additional rpm output: /usr/lib/qemu-bridge-helper: cannot verify root:root 0755 - not listed in /etc/permissions Now, normally I would consider this as a bug, but the machine has been via zypper dup upgraded, therefore I am not sure if this is something on my end or common for everyone. Any thoughts Thanks -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-security+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-security+owner@opensuse.org

I noticed a similar message when installing something else. I wondered what it meant, but I forgot to investigate. - -- Cheers, Carlos E. R. It is not a bug, just a warning. The bridge helper can stay 755. Ciao, Marcus -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-security+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-security+owner@opensuse.org

It means that the package has a chkstat call in %post and/or %verify (check with rpm -q --scripts $package) - but /usr/lib/qemu-bridge-helper is not mentioned in /etc/permissions* It's not the most terrible bug ever, nevertheless it's worth a bugreport IMHO. Regards, Christian Boltz --
We are working on php4 updates but we are not able to release them before the second week of january since most developers and testers are not available. Ho-hum. It might have been wise to allow for vulnerabilities that get discovered during holidays. Worms don't usually keep track of people's vacations. [> Marcus Meissner and maarten in suse-security]
