AFAIK, root doesn't have to have any permissions, she can do anything she likes (unless you're on a compartmented or otherwise restricted, i.e. non-standard system).
BUT when I try to mount this as an user I get the error message: "cannot mount on /mnt: operation is not allowed".
Again AFAIK and from personal experience, you need to: * Set the SUID bit on /usr/sbin/smbmount and * have the mountpoint owned by the user in question. Cheers Tobias
