Throw away sendmail and install Exim. (http://www.exim.org)

Exim is so much easier to setup, hence more likely to configure a secure setup/

Many thanks for the informative answer to my question After checking my logs and reading the sendmail op.txt that was located in the docs directory I do not now think the person was able to do send a mail since SuSE sendmail is compiled with no relay option the unwanted guest could not achieved what he dreamed. -- Togan Muftuoglu
