Hi together,
openssh packages will show up on the ftp servers at the usual location
(before 7.1 -> ftp.suse.de, after + including 7.1 -> ftp.suse.com).
If you like, try them out. The packages contain a fix for the recently
found problem that all files called "cookies" can be deleted, in addition
to half a ton of more problems that have been corrected.
As usual, the packages are gpg-signed.
Something administrative: The list currently only operates with the
address suse-security@suse.com, suse-security@suse.de does _NOT_ work.
Mads M. Joergensen + Christopher Mahmood will have a look at this.
Thanks,
Roman.

Sorry probably I did not get it correct since you have used the word "try them out" this is not the final one SuSe is releasing for security fix unless no further bugs/problems are found in this release. So am I correctly interpreting this as not recommended to be used on a bastion host that has direct connection to the internet and provides shell access. (could be secure than the previous SuSE release yet this is not offial yet) TIA -- Togan Muftuoglu

"Try it out" means a) the announcement is pending as long as not all packages are built b) give me feedback if something goes wrong (which I don't expect). Packages on the ftp server _are_ official. An announcement is even more official. :-)
TIA
Thanks,
Roman.

perhaps: ftp://beta.suse.com/ is in order. Kurt
Hi All, I was a little slow with updating my netscape package to 4.77 and I noticed the following in my netstat -apn: tcp 1 0 <mybox>:2259 216.136.171.200:80 CLOSE_WAIT 3105/netscape tcp 0 0 <mybox>:2253 195.176.255.137:443 ESTABLISHED 3105/netscape tcp 0 0 <mybox>:2252 195.176.255.137:443 ESTABLISHED 3105/netscape tcp 0 0 <mybox>:2250 195.176.255.137:443 TIME_WAIT - tcp 0 0 <mybox>:2240 195.176.255.137:443 ESTABLISHED 3105/netscape I am not aware of ever trying to reach either IPs (one doesn't resolve here, the other belong to some adres in China??) and I have no webserver running (well, I sometimes do but it should be unreachable from the outside world). I tripwire-checked my box, and nothing seems to have changed. Any suggestions on what this might have been?? Dirk

Except that ftp://ftp.suse.de/pub/suse/i386/update/6.3 has gone missing; it used to be a symlink to 6.4 - so I guess we simply can use the SuSE 6.4 packages, right? Bye, Martin Köhling

Right. The symlink got lost in a script that ran over the tree on the staging server. I have shutdown ftp.suse.de while I was investigating the cause. It's now accessible again, everything is there. Sorry for the mess.
Bye, Martin Köhling
Thanks,
Roman.
