Strange sendmail process
Hello list ! I have got a SUSE 8.0 box with postfix (Version 20010228pl08, release 22) installed an connected to inet. The latest patches are installed. I have checked the system with ps -aux an got the following 2 processes: root 30885 0.0 0.1 4284 1376 ? S 00:00 0:00 /usr/sbin/sendmail -FCronDaemon -odi -oem root root 30886 0.0 0.1 4276 1372 ? S 00:00 0:00 /usr/sbin/postdrop -r Does anybody know something about the origin ? Stefan

Does anybody know something about the origin ? Try using pstree to find out who spawned them. Probably cron?

Dont panic, "rpm -qf /usr/sbin/sendmail" is the answer :-) SLI.
