I just read the following article: http://www.linuxsecurity.com/advisories/suse_advisory-1680.html When I try to update my system (SuSE 7.3) with yast2 the patch is not offered to me! How can I check if this patch is already installed! The files on the ftp-Server are dated with 25.10.2001 - the article is from yesterday!! -- Jochen

Please read the security announcement carefully! A kernel update can not be done via YaST2 (YOU). That's why we explain the needed steps in great detail in our kernel announcements.

Please keep in mind, this security announcement has been re-issued. SuSE-SA:2001:036 has been issued on Friday, Oct 26th. If you followed this announcement and updated your kernel, you're already safe, as this kernel update _already_ fixed all three security issues. But we didn't mentioned this in SuSE-SA:2001:036 to give other Linux vendors the opportunity to fix their kernels, as they released an updated kernel earlier than we did.
