Hi all! I have a question regarding some open tcp ports on a computer running suse linux 7.2. netstat is showning that ports below are open. tcp 0 0 0.0.0.0:32768 0.0.0.0:* LISTEN tcp 0 0 0.0.0.0:32871 0.0.0.0:* LISTEN These port are somehow (for me unknown) related to X. I think it is xdm that are running at these ports but not for sure. Is it OK to ignore them? If not, how do I disable/close them/the service running these ports to increase my network security? Thank. Tobias Höglund

Hi ! Well do not ask me what these ports are good for ! But if you wanna close the use IPchains ! eq consult assistance by the command > man ipchains You can deny all packages from anywhere to your local port ! ( if you want ) cheers & thx Patric Illi
