That must have been it - I copied and pasted all the 2243 lines into a new file - and now it's running.

If you use vim (the SuSE vi is a vim) it is more easy. :help ff to convert a file brute force at end of edit session :set ff=unix :wq at Beginning of edit session :set ff=unix :w :e! Yours Jörg
