Comment out the "test" entry and add a real account. Something like:

marc linux1 <password(without the<>)> ip.addressed.you.want

Then you should be able to log in.

Thanks for your help, it was a silly mistake on my side. the link I used to test the connection was nat'ed. The vpn works like a charm now :) marc
