Hi folks, I want to update my system by using YOU but at any time at any server it fails. The log displays, that the update tries to download from the following directory i386/update//patches as you can see, the update tries to use a double slash. how can I correct this, that the update doesn't fail anymore. thx MfG. This problem report is unique, because files under /var/lib/YaST are corrupt, most notably /var/lib/YaST/update.inf. Without these files, yast* can't determine the distribution version that is installed. almost all games on my freshly installed SuSE 7.2 are either suid (to user games) or sgid (to group game or games), or in some cases both. Why is this? Isn't it a security risk in that it could help a malicious user gain rights of user or group game(s)? Images of hackers replacing game binaries with trojaned versions come to mind... My first thought was that maybe the reason behind these suid/sgid bits is to enable a game to keep a system-wide highscore list, but that doesn't explain it: adventure, for example, doesn't keep such a list and only ever needs write acces for saving games, which is restricted to a user's homedirectory. Removing the s-bit on a number of games didn't have any noticable effect... or did I fail to notice something?
