Hi ! How can I keep SuSEfirewall2 from writing its logs into /var/log/messages. There are so many messages of the firewall there that I have trouble finding the system messages ! I thought it was only supposed to log into /var/log/firewall ?

You need to set the default log level for iptables and then edit the /etc/sysconfig/syslog file to redirect that log level to another file (/var/log/firewall if you like). -- -- Raymond Leach <raymondl@knowledgefactory.co.za> Network Support Specialist http://www.knowledgefactory.co.za "lynx -source http://www.rchq.co.za/raymondl.asc | gpg --import" Key fingerprint = 7209 A695 9EE0 E971 A9AD 00EE 8757 EE47 F06F FB28 --

--> This behaviuor is controlled via "/etc/syslog.conf". Try adding a line: kern.warn -/var/log/firewall HTH, Armin -- Am Hasenberg 26 office: Institut für Atmosphärenphysik D-18209 Bad Doberan Schloss-Straße 6 Tel. ++49-(0)38203/42137 D-18225 Kühlungsborn / GERMANY Email: schoech@iap-kborn.de Tel. +49-(0)38293-68-102 WWW: http://armins.cjb.net/ Fax. +49-(0)38293-68-50
