Amavis-new and spamassassin
Hi list, i use suse 9.2/9.3 in my server mail with postfix, clamav and amavis-new. I don't understand how to change the control that amavis-new does with the spamassassin module. I have tried to change the /etc/mail/spamassassin/local.cf but the control of amavis-new doesn't change. I want to change the configuration to unable the RBLs. I have installed the following rpms: perl-spamassassin amavis-new The debug of amavis-new doesn't help me to understand. This are the module that amavis-new loads: Jul 1 15:07:43 cristian amavis[21674]: Perl version 5.008003 Jul 1 15:07:43 cristian amavis[21674]: Module Amavis::Conf 1.15 Jul 1 15:07:43 cristian amavis[21674]: Module Archive::Tar 1.08 Jul 1 15:07:43 cristian amavis[21674]: Module Archive::Zip 1.09 Jul 1 15:07:43 cristian amavis[21674]: Module Compress::Zlib 1.33 Jul 1 15:07:43 cristian amavis[21674]: Module Convert::TNEF 0.17 Jul 1 15:07:43 cristian amavis[21674]: Module Convert::UUlib 1.0 Jul 1 15:07:43 cristian amavis[21674]: Module DB_File 1.808 Jul 1 15:07:43 cristian amavis[21674]: Module MIME::Entity 5.404 Jul 1 15:07:43 cristian amavis[21674]: Module MIME::Parser 5.406 Jul 1 15:07:43 cristian amavis[21674]: Module MIME::Tools 5.411 Jul 1 15:07:43 cristian amavis[21674]: Module Mail::Header 1.60 Jul 1 15:07:43 cristian amavis[21674]: Module Mail::Internet 1.60 Jul 1 15:07:43 cristian amavis[21674]: Module Mail::SpamAssassin 2.63 Jul 1 15:07:43 cristian amavis[21674]: Module Net::Cmd 2.24 Jul 1 15:07:43 cristian amavis[21674]: Module Net::DNS 0.46 Jul 1 15:07:43 cristian amavis[21674]: Module Net::SMTP 2.26 Jul 1 15:07:43 cristian amavis[21674]: Module Net::Server 0.87 Jul 1 15:07:43 cristian amavis[21674]: Module Time::HiRes 1.52 Jul 1 15:07:43 cristian amavis[21674]: Module Unix::Syslog 0.100 Thanks, Cristian Del Carlo

Add to your: /etc/mail/spamassassin/local.cf # Enable or disable network checks skip_rbl_checks 1 # maybe that is useful for you; too use_razor2 0 use_dcc 0 use_pyzor 0 Ciao Marco!

Pity, there is little documentation in the distro. Perhaps this note in the readme helps: | There is also a more detailed documentation on selected topics | (a work in progress), the most recent version is at: | http://www.ijs.si/software/amavisd/amavisd-new-docs.html
I have tried to change the /etc/mail/spamassassin/local.cf but the control of amavis-new doesn't change.
Whatever control there is, I understand is through '/etc/amavisd.conf'.
I want to change the configuration to unable the RBLs.
It should be this: $sa_local_tests_only = 1; # only tests which do not require internet access? - -- Cheers, Carlos Robinson -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.4.0 (GNU/Linux) Comment: Made with pgp4pine 1.76 iD8DBQFCxerTtTMYHG2NR9URAp6SAJ9rHa44n4Yxisjm2Ul19Xo36bEmOQCfRB3r 3VwcrSiNTVK8kyJ3AcLiGDQ= =Ekf1 -----END PGP SIGNATURE-----

I have collect some lines from FAQ in my local.cf: ##################################################### # Amavisd-new FAQ http://www.ijs.si/software/amavisd/ # Where to specify the SA options? In amavisd.conf or in SA's local.cf file? # # + There is hardly any choice. Options to control trigger levels for spam # (tag/tag2/kill level) must be in amavisd.conf, as it is the amavisd that # decides what to do with a mail based on the score level as calculated by SA. # The required_hits in local.cf has no effect on mail delivery or tagging. # + Similarly the header insertion/editing options must be specified in # amavisd.conf. It is the amavisd that is editing the message by itself. Header # and body rewriting options in SA have no external effect, as amavisd does # not use the modified message as prepared by SA. # + The $sa_local_tests_only must be specified in amavisd.conf, there are no # equivalent options in local.cf. The setting affects how SA is called from # the application (the API). # + The $sa_auto_whitelist, sinc SA 3.0, there is now an option use_auto_whitelist # to be specified in local.cf, and the $sa_auto_whitelist is ignored. # + White and blacklisting in amavisd-new and as provided by SA are similar in # concept, but different in implementation. Both can coexist, use the mechanism # that best suits the needs. # - The w/b listing in SA works on information from the header (e.g. on the # mail author -- the From: header field), and contributes large positive or # negative score points to the score being computed. # - The (hard) w/b listing in amavisd-new works on envelope sender address # (i.e. the return-path). If triggered, the call to SA is skipped to save # time, as it would not have a chance to overrule the w/b list decision # already taken. # - The (soft) w/b listing in amavisd-new (the @score_sender_maps, since 2.0) # also works on envelope sender address, but only modifies the spam score # as returned by SA, and does not bypass calling SA. # + SA sees and observes all options in local.cf. It is just that some of them # have no effect on the mail. Ciao Marco!
