firewall-config: Allow external computers to access internal services
Yepp, that is the problem I have. I have a computer external to the firewall and want it to go through the firewall on an internal one. Unfortunately, I have no idea, how to do it. Hope, anybody can help me with that problem Yours Thomas
This process is called port forwarding. You didn't specify exactly what it is you want to connect to on your internal computer. But you would need to know what ports and protocols these services use for incoming connections. Also if you're using SuSEfirewall(ipchains) or SuSEfirewall2(iptables) they come with comprehensive examples. You can get the latest SuSEfirewall @ www.suse.com/~marc After you install it look in /usr/share/doc/packages/SuSEfirewall2/EXAMPLES Alex Levit ----- Original Message ----- From: <Thomas_Janke@prisma-edv.de> To: <suse-security@suse.com> Sent: Friday, November 02, 2001 5:20 AM Subject: [suse-security] firewall-config: Allow external computers to access internal services

Hi Thomas, 1. If you can define what you mean with 'go through the firewall' it'll be easier to help (i.e. you want to: ssh, ftp, etc from outside to inside) 2. Without a basic understanding of your setup i.e. external/internal interface, LAN IP-addresses, type of internet access, etc. it will be impossible to give proper advice. Please try and find out as much as possible about your current setup and about your goals. Many questions will answer themselves during this process, with the rest you can bug us (if it's not a FAQ ;-) Erwin --- Thomas_Janke@prisma-edv.de wrote:
