Hi, a) which programs do you recommend for POP3 and IMAP which are capable to do TLS/SSL? I looked at Qualcom's popper, but 3.1 doesn't have it and 4 is to expensive ($300/CPU) and Cyrus IMAP server doesn't seem to support it. I saw that http://www.washington.edu/imap/ has a imap server which seems to support it. Has anyone any experience with it? b) Will SuSE 7.1 include a uw-imap.rpm (UW-IMAP-2000)? Tobias PS: We have still a pop2 server running, is there any program which still requires (or support) it? (If not, we will close a port.) -- This above all: To thine own self be true / And it must follow as the night the day / Thou canst not then be false to any man.

any imap/pop server will work, simply ssl wrap it. RedHat ships with xinetd preconfigured/etc, http://securityportal.com/lskb/10000100/kben10000141.html service imaps { socket_type = stream wait = no user = root server = /usr/sbin/stunnel server_args = -l /usr/sbin/imapd -- imapd log_on_success += DURATION USERID log_on_failure += USERID disable = no }
b) Will SuSE 7.1 include a uw-imap.rpm (UW-IMAP-2000)?
Tobias

xinetd is included on the SuSE distribution cd as well. And Cyrus does support ssl without wrapping. Stefan

Yes, I am using it at my site. It's SSL performance is quite ok, even though it has problems due to an forgotten point to be fixed in the next version: It only loads the server certificate and not the CA certificate so that it will not present a complete certificate chain. Please find attached an email I wrote on openssl-users. Best regards, Lutz
