Daily Cron Similar to FreeBSD Periodic Daily

Does SuSE have anything similar to the FreeBSD's periodic daily cron job that does systems checks such as some basic security that is mailed to the root alias? I just attended a training on FreeBSD and wondered if this was something SuSE is doing as well. Thanks, Eric -- ______________________________________________________________________

"seccheck" is what you want. It's a nice little script from SuSE that looks for world writable files/directories, helps you keep track of SUID programs and checks if the passwords are secure (among many other things). AFAIK it is part of any recent SuSE distro. nordi

Thanks everyone!! I will give that a shot! Looks like the yast install setup cron as well! As far as I can tell there isn't much else to do except read the mail sent to root. Thanks, Eric nordi wrote:

I recommend installing Logwatch and Tripwire. I don't think Logwatch is in the base SuSE distro, but Tripwire is. Logwatch is something that runs every night and notes interesting log entries, while tripwire will let you know if anyone has been monkeying with your files.

I am currently using logdigest, included in SuSE with good results. Give it a try! El Domingo, 18 de Julio de 2004 20:38, Eric Kahklen escribió:
