ssh patch for 8.1 no x running
Has anyone successfully installed the ssh security patch issued on 9/18/03 on a system running SuSe 8.1 "bare bones" install? I have been unable to find a patch that will work. The listed patch is openssh-3.4p1-215.i586.rpm. The ssh patch for my 8.2 systems works great.

I updated my openssh on 8.1 machines successfully using fou4s (http://fou4s.gaugusch.at) - no manual searching necessary :) If it is configured as cronjob, you also get an email notification about every new update.

(20:36 draht@disc:~ ) rpm -q openssh
openssh-3.4p1-215
(20:36 draht@disc:~ )
I am running exactly this version. Is there anything wrong with it (it
works flawlessly here...)?
Thanks,
Roman.

No, I am sure the patch is fine. I am having some compatability problems due to several packages that I have not installed on my machine running 8.1. It is a simple bare bones tftp server & isn't running X. I was just wondering if anyone else had encountered the same problem. The ssh patch/upgrade will not install. I may have to start from scratch and rebuild the box. On Monday 22 September 2003 12:37, Roman Drahtmueller wrote:

yeah, ok, shouldn't be a problem.

Well, maybe it would slightly more easy to help you with knowledge of the error message :-)

No, it's linux, no start from scratch needed. If you need a package, simply install it (e.g. openssl.rpm or what you're missing). As long as you have some free space on disk this is no problem. Can become difficult if your TFTP server is an old 486 with a 100MB disk just to store routers configuration. oki, Steffen -- Dieses Schreiben wurde maschinell erstellt, es trägt daher weder Unterschrift noch Siegel.
Hi, Using rpm -Uvh ..., here's what I have now: alind ~ # rpm -qa | grep openssh openssh-askpass-3.4p1-102 openssh-3.4p1-215 alind ~ # cat /etc/SuSE-release SuSE Linux 8.1 (i386) VERSION = 8.1 alind ~ # Do you receive any error when you try to upgrade? How did you try to upgrade? Regards, Alin. Brad Zumbrunnen wrote:
