completed automatic online updates
I am using the automatic yast online update. It's output shows an "I" before some of the updates. The "I" could be for the english work "install." Are these updates that have been applied to my system? Or is there further work for me to do? TIA, KurtRR -- Kurt R. Yes, there is. 1) In case of kernel updates you hae to reboot the machine after the installation of the fixed package. 2) In case of library updates you have to identify running processes which used the old lib and restart those. All instructions are also supplied in the Security Announcements. ===== 1) Make also sure that the initrd got correctly recreated with the new modules. I had problems where the partition used for creating the image had no space left and rendered my system unbootable. 2) I use "lsof | grep -i dele" to see which files got pointers but are deleted. -- Have fun, Peter
