What is difference between /etc/pam.d/passwd and the "password" of /etc/pam.d/sshd?
Hello, I'm very sorry for my poor english. I know PAM(Password Authentication Module), but I don't know the difference /etc/pam.d/passwd and the "password" of each file in /etc/pam.d/sshd, /etc/pam.d/login..etc /etc/pam.d/passwd also have the word, "passwd" I'm very confused, Please explain what the difference is... I don't know the difference /etc/pam.d/passwd and the "password" of each file in /etc/pam.d/sshd, /etc/pam.d/login..etc
/etc/pam.d/passwd is the configuration for the "passwd" program you use to set new passwords. The "password" line in the other configuration files chooses the pam-module and the requirements, i.e. "password required pam_unix2.so" means pam uses the unix2.so lib from /lib/security and this check must not fail.
