Q: SuSE FTP Server broken or hacked?
Hello, last Friday I installed a fresh SuSE 8.1 from FTP... Now on monday morning I tried to update but always get. Error: Signature check for patch info files failed. Can't load patch information. Looks like either the patch files are broken or were tried to be backdoored. Stefan Esser
Please check if you have the proper key there has been an update of the signature key

I have the proper key installed in my keyring which expires 2006-02-12. I also set the clock correct... I still get invalid signature on the patch files. Stefan Esser

Well after installing the keys in the NOT existing RPM keyring it worked fine. I just wonder why Yast cries when installing patches but not when installing the packages ?!. This sounds fishy to me. Stefan
And the information on the site : http://www.suse.de/en/private/support/security/index.html is outdated

If you have the patience, just click install for every package the program asks. Which packeges get installed, will be nevertheless correctly preselected if you do manual update. If you search with keyword 'YOU' at sdb.suse.com, there are several hints listed, particulary http://sdb.suse.de/de/sdb/html/swiegra_you-gpg.html, but neiter this nor other helped me so far. Don't know whats going on.

So in this case you still can install packages with wrong signatures? Did you get a big fat warning requiring to enter 3 letter "yes" to procceed? Otherwise this just must be a bug! oki, Steffen -- Dieses Schreiben wurde maschinell erstellt, es trägt daher weder Unterschrift noch Siegel.
