firewall don't initialize when the system booting
I'm using suse 7.3 I enable "START_FW=yes" in /etc/rc.config but when the system booting i get these errors: ' ' ' Starting firewall initialization:( phase 1 of 3 ) failed Error: ipchains does not work: ipchains: incompatible with this kernel ' ' ' Starting firewall initialization:( phase 2 of 3 ) failed ' ' ' Starting firewall initialization:( phase 3 of 3 ) failed Ps: Although in kernel i do disable ipchains & ipfwadm and compile the kernel but when i reboot the system with new image i get above ERRORS again How can i solve this problem that when the system is booting i don't get above ERRORS and firewall was running well? You should use SuSEfirewall2, which uses iptables, which is designed for use with 2.4.x kernels. SuSEfirewall uses ipchains and is for 2.2.x kernels. -- Joe Morris New Tribes Mission Email Address: Joe_Morris@ntm.org Web Address: http://www.mydestiny.net/~joe_morris Registered Linux user 231871 God said, I AM that I AM.
