Hallo, ich habe hier ein frisch installiertes Suse 8.2 (CD-Version) mit einem Nis (yp) Server am laufen. Leider funktioniert das ändern der Passwörter nicht. Ich bekomme folgende Fehlermeldung:
gordon@andechs:~> yppasswd gordon yppasswd is deprecated, use /usr/bin/passwd instead
Changing password for gordon. Old Password: New password: Re-enter new password: Changing NIS password for gordon on veltins.catnet.et.tu-dresden.de. Error while changing the NIS password. Error: Password NOT changed passwd: Authentication token manipulation error
(Übrigens, mit /usr/bin/passwd ist es das ganz das Gleiche) Im syslog bekomme ich:
Oct 23 16:06:59 veltins rpc.yppasswdd[514]: update gordon (uid=1704) from host 192.168.43.129 rejected Oct 23 16:06:59 veltins rpc.yppasswdd[514]: Invalid password.
Bei meinem gleichkonfigurierten Nis-Server unter Suse 7.1 geht das einwandfrei. Was ist denn da los? Warum geht das nicht? Vielen Dank für Eure Hilfe im Voraus. Viele Grüße, Gordon.
Dear Gordon, I saw that problem here. I don't know what causes it, but rcyppasswdd restart on the NIS server fixed it. Bob On Fri, 24 Oct 2003, Gordon Cichon wrote:

Thanks for your reply, Bob. I tried to restart it but it is still not working. Is there any intermediate files that might be corrupted? (I tried it already with deleting all stuff in /var/yp/catnet, with no success). What file permissions do I need to have on my password files? How does yppasswdd know where to store its changed passwords? Thanks for your help. Best Regards, Gordon. Bob Vickers wrote:

Check YPPWD_SRCDIR in /etc/sysconfig/ypserv. How is /etc/nsswitch.conf on the NIS server configured? You shouldn't have nis on the passwd line. "passwd: compat" should work. -- Richard Ems ... e-mail: r.ems@gmx.net ... Computer Science, University of Hamburg "Do or do not. There is no try" - Yoda Yoda never programmed in Java.
