... if I have to ask google ...

... now I'm not sure if I did understand that right ...
.. IP-Chains can analyze if a packet is permitted to "go to the target system" or not ( if so, the packet will be dropped or routed ) .. IP-Tables can analyze all packets and Flags ( SYN, FIN, etc. ) no matter where the packets destination is ( if a rule will apply the packet will be dropped or routed )
.. right so ?!?!??!?!??!?!
not really. again ! ask google ! e.g : compare iptables ipchains here the first link in list http://www.oofle.com/iptables/comparison.htm Yours Michael Appeldorn
... if I have to ask google ... ... why does this mailing-list exist ? ...
... thought this mailing-list is to discuss different topics ... and not only for "Firewall-Experts" ... Actually I think that this list should not handle firewall CONFIGURATION discussions at all. Security problems in existing firewall "products" (like SuSEfirewall, iptables, ...) are ok, but in many cases RTFM would be a better answer (sorry!).
I would really appreciate a suse-admin list, as someone else suggested! Anyway ... this is surely the wrong list for kiddy-like games like yours. So
I would prefer you stop it ... it gets boring!

..thats not the point. We're all happy if someone can help us with an enlighting answer. But the normal way is to ask some search engines. Cauze it will not "waste" the time of someone who has to answer and to honor the work people did when publishing helpdesk documents to the web .O) And so my statement was nonpersonal. Yours Michael
