Hi list, after updating my OpenSSH installation on a SuSE 7.3 system, md5 passwords no longer work with OpenSSH. Does this mean I have to convert my complete shadow file from md5 to standard crypt passwords, or is there (will there be) a pam fix to solve this issue? Thx in advance, Ralf

We know about it, and we'll publish fixed packages shortly, most likely not version 3.3p1 any more. There's nothing we could do about it in that short time; the pam code in sshd is too broken.
Thx in advance,
Ralf
Thanks,
Roman.

I believe this is fixed in Openssh 3.4p1. There are no SuSE package yet, so you would have to download it from the Openssh site. There is a SuSE spec file in the contrib directory of the tarball. Charles -- "Whip me. Beat me. Make me maintain AIX." (By Stephan Zielinski)
