Fou4s - Fast OnlineUpdate for SuSE 0.1.0

The next major release is out! Please visit my homepage http://www.gaugusch.at/fou4s/ Most noteably new features: * HTTP server and proxy support works now * RemarkList and IgnoreList can be used to ignore some package (versions) or do a notification only. * FTP Benchmarking tool included (by Guenther Sommer <gue@rettung.at>) * Manual pages added * Speed improvements I still got no answer from SuSE, why YOU is missing some updates. Are you already investigating or should I send a mail to security@suse.com? Here is an official answer from SuSE why Squid 2.4 packages are not updated on a 7.3 system:
Personally, I don't accept that position. What's the sense in having a tool like YOU if experienced users have to do it by hand. I am quite glad you took your time to program fou4s and offer it here. Heyas, Fou4s is a great tool, nice job. Though I am looking for something to replace YAST and do the same stuff as apt-get does in debian. Anyone know of any such tool for SuSE? Yast is simply much to slow for my taste. /Aidin

As a configuration tool, YaST is still good (I only use YaST1), and you can use /etc/rc.config as well.
But it look like yast1 will not be part of SuSE 8.0, as far as I've seen from the package-list :-(. I've feared this a long time... So well have to stick with /etc/rc.config and Fou4s. Best regards, Ralf Ronneburger

The SuSE website says they moved everything from YAST1 to YAST2. YAST1 is no longer included. I sure hope they leave sax1 there. I could NOT get X working on my Toshiba notebook with sax2, but sax did. Maybe I just need to get the new sax2, which I discovered does not download using YOU. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Markus Gaugusch" <markus@gaugusch.at> To: "Aidin Fanni" <fanni@cd.chalmers.se> Cc: "SuSE-Security" <suse-security@suse.com> Sent: Tuesday, April 16, 2002 4:59 AM Subject: Re: [suse-security] Fou4s - Fast OnlineUpdate for SuSE 0.1.0
