Re: [suse-security] Problem installing update package
Hi:
In trying to download Gnome2, I noticed there are patches for openssl-devel 0.9.6c and openssl-doc 0.9.6c --- could your problem be you need to update all your openssl Packages -- just a thought-- HTH

I just noticed this thread -- I am trying to figure how to install the new Gnome2 packages -- so far no joy -- filesystem is still giving me problems --- Although I did find a read me I had missed on:<http://www.suse.de/en/private/download/gnomes/index.html>
AFAYP, you might consider (after running rpm -v --checksig, to verify MD5sum, as Andreas suggested), putting "openssl" in a directory by itself, and then from a console as root in that directory runn simply: rpm -Uvh *.rpm -- it may be a package name is the problem -- or dependency problem -- (Sorry this is such a long reply, I didn't have time to write a short one---) ~Gar

I want to install the new openssl package on SuSE Enterprise Server 8. I downloaded the package from the maintenance web. When I try to install it with "rpm -Fvh openssl-0.9.6g-55.i586.rpm" I just get the message "error: openssl-0.9.6g-55.i586.rpm cannot be installed"
rpm -Uvh doesn't work either.
Any solution?
I think your copy of the package is damaged! verify it (perhaps with md5sum) and you will see that.
