lpd service and SuSefirewall2
Hello, I've a network printer declared as samba printer in my lnx machine. This server has 3 different ethx and a SuSefirewall2 running over. How can use from Lan 192.168.0.0/24 the samba printer with ip=172.168.0.200 ? Is it possible? Thanks Bye Paolo

1st: Your Subject is wrong. You've to ask for samba and SuSefirewall2 2nd: So why not. Set up your firewall configuration: /etc/rc.config.d/firewall2.rc.config snip ---- # set to "yes" if this server is running a samba server. You still have to open # the tcp port 139 to allow remote access to SAMBA. FW_SERVICE_SAMBA="yes" ---- snap and put the ip of the samba server into the clients network configuration as wins server (assuming your clients are windows boxes). Set up samba to be wins server and restart if not always was wins'ing. smb.conf snip ---- [global] wins support = Yes ---- snap You may want to allow everybody to access the printer, so choose security=share swat help snip ---- You should also use security = share if you want to mainly setup shares without a password (guest shares). This is commonly used for a shared printer server. It is more difficult to setup guest shares with security = user, see the map to guest parameter for details. ---- snap the bob http://www.hs-pongratz.de

and your name - Paranoiac_User - is wrong, too. Do you think you are 'The One' to tell others what the subject line should be? Should we ask you next time before we write to the list whether our chosen subject line is correct in your opinion? GTi

So why, dude.
Do you think you are 'The One' to tell others what the subject line should be?
The initiator of this thread had no problems with that advice on the wrong subject but replyed thanks for my hints. <flame>So who are you to presume to speak for others.</flame> It is friday and you are bored and try to instigate some flame war? Did your GTi get crashed or did your boyfriend leaved you?

You should, others can behave as usual.

I don't speak for others, I critizised your behavior. But if you need some flames, here we go ;)
It is friday and you are bored and try to instigate some flame war? Did your GTi get crashed or did your boyfriend leaved you?
No other ideas? No arguments given, so I won't answer your lame questions.

I won't. Since you don't even know the difference between DENY and DROP, welcome to my killfile. GTi
Okay boys and girls, can we just play nice. Or at least take the bickering off list? -- Until later, Geoffrey Registered Linux User #108567 Building secure systems in spite of Microsoft

Hence your silly try to flame you get questions you are worth 4.

Who told you i would'nt know the difference. Read (u better 2 times) that i simlpy failed while using a ipchains target, which would be correct when blocking stuff internally using ipchains. I'm sure you never make mistakes (and never make anything that's relevant). Thank you for not "silently discarding" me but inform me on it. Anyway, this will take you the chance to correct me in further threads and this does not comply with your role as a list teacher/guardian here.
