Re: [suse-security] rpm gpgp key
It is uploaded, since two weeks.
Not to ldap://keyservers.pgp.com, http://pgp.keys.mit.edu:11371, etc. I don't know european key servers so well (not being a european and all =). A web search of google for "9C800ACA" turns up _nothing_, whereas a search for say RedHat's key ID turns up numerous hits with the key/etc. Please post the key with the fingerrprint and key ID since rpm -Kvv reports the key ID which is what people will end up looking for most likely. -Kurt

keyservers.pgp.com and pgp.keys.mit.edu do not exist. I have uploaded/sent the key to the servers keys.pgp.net, keyserver.pgp.com as well as wwwkeys.eu.pgp.net. The pgp.net server sync each other, it used to say, but everything seems abandoned now. :-/ search.keyserver.net said it accepted the key, but I can't retrieve it any more. Seems it crashed right after it got the key. Maybe somebody knows the guys: All help functions are basically broken right now, and the www.pgp.net frontpage is Danish.

There doesn't seem to be a comprehensive list of keyservers. Is there?

They're in PGP 7.0 by default... did you use the right port/etc?

Their keyservers are notoriously crappy. Please put it on the webpage =).

There used to be... I guess that's something else I can stick on my todo list.

And if so, you could make it avialable via HTTPS, so it's a little more secure as long as I don't have a printed fingerprint :) THX. oki, Steffen -- Dieses Schreiben wurde maschinell erstellt, es trägt daher weder Unterschrift noch Siegel.

Duh. It's not there yet. Seems something has crashed before it finished. Have to do it again later on...

Which reminds me of something: Isn't there a whole lot of paper going out from SuSE to those who want it and sometimes even to those who don't want it :> ? I think of newsletters and the like here. Spread the fingerprint as wide as you can. Maybe even bump it onto the software package cover (the box) as well as into _all_ the booklets as well as into the root directory of every CD/DVD and floppy and everywhere else you put your name on. I take it we're talking some 50 characters of fingerprint and some 16 characters of key ID -- which could fit almost any place as soon as there's enough room for your address and web links. :) It's only one more line of text and could be done in fine print. virtually yours 82D1 9B9C 01DC 4FB4 D7B4 61BE 3F49 4F77 72DE DA76 Gerhard Sittig true | mail -s "get gpg key" Gerhard.Sittig@gmx.net -- If you don't understand or are scared by any of the above ask your parents or an adult to help you.
Hi, For what it's worth:

According to their webpages the server crashed 3 weeks ago. There is no news about it being repaired yet: 2001/01/31: The keyserver database was corrupted last week and needed to be rebuilt. We are currently working off a backup copy of the database while that rebuild finishes.
Maybe somebody knows the guys: All help functions are basically broken right now, and the www.pgp.net frontpage is Danish.
I don't know them, and my knowledge of Danish is just slighly more than nothing, but I did manage this: For more info contact keyserver-admin@pgp.com. Cheers, Yuri.
