Nice little newbie review
This is an interesting review that the SuSE marketing droids may be able to use.. http://www.linuxtests.org/articles/distributions/suse/7.0/ It pretty much mirrors what I think of SuSE 7.0.. I had a very similar problem installing on my Sparc.. where linuxrc would just die... As long as they keep yast1 around I won't complain.... IMHO yast2 is great for newusers (hey, people have problem installing windows too).... FYI: For yast1, type 'manual' when you boot SuSE 7.0 CD1. -- Ørnulf Nielsen

*nod or yast1 works also... YaST2 seems to really hate alot of video cards... maybe it's just all the video cards I have..lol Both my sparcs especially... -Nix -- Microsoft is to operating systems & security .... .... what McDonalds is to gourmet cooking

It's not yast2 - it's the kernel's linear frame buffer that is active during this stage of installation. We know that it sometimes doesn't work, but these cases become more and more rare... Hello,
Does anyone else HATE YaST2????
I do so, too. I'll hope, that SuSE will never kill the older "normal" yast. If they do so, I'll have to use RH... ;-) Greetinx, Oliver Grube Network Security Engineer ******************************************** iT_SEC - enabling trusted ebusiness ******************************************** iT_SEC Deutschland GmbH Dünner Strasse 247, 41066 Mönchengladbach T: +49 2161 6897-0 // F: +49 2161 6897-199

Yes!!!! I just cannot stand yast2 mainly because of this silly error: I have 2 network interfaces one 192.168.x.x.x the other 63.79.x.x. however I cannot set the default gateway on the 192.168.x.x interface to a gateway on the 63.79.x.x network isn't that just dandy. Anyways apart from that frankly I have to say that one major fact is annoying: I have two hard disks on which I want to install i.e with say /dev/hda as / and /dev/hdb as /usr but the damn thing tells me to choose which hard disk I want. unlike the dear old yast1.
