Mine is (mostly) a single-user workstation. I want to have the comfort of sudo and yet a bit of security. Is it possible to tell sudo to work without a password IF it is being called by a bash-programm that is a child of login that is a child of init? And would that be secure or not? Are there other ways to have a comfortable (password-less) sudo in safety? Greetings, Jurriaan -- Never before have I encountered such corrupt and foul-minded perversity! hi i didn't exactly get the thing about "child". but one thing is , using visudo, add a aline called <login> ALL=(ALL) NOPASSWD: (ALL) u are root, if u say sudo bash. And it certianly is NOT secure. u ae root, nomatter what. but u said u'rs was a single user workstation right ? As for the second part of question, sudo interactively is always called by a bash (shell) , or a script, and since it is always a child of login, it dowsn't matter. regards cheedu On Thu, 18 Jan 2001 thunder7@xs4all.nl wrote:
