Hi, I'm new to this kernel 2.4.x and my ipchains don't seem to work i get an error like protocol unavailable or something, any idea how i can fix it. Or is there a better tool then ipchains? I don't have any kind of security at this point, I own SuSE 7.1 with kernel 2.4.0. Any idea how i can get some security on this box? __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? iptables, man iptables and then you can convert your ipchains to iptables format. ipchains is still supported in 2.4.x Ed Wiget RHP Studios ----- Original Message ----- From: "Jesse yep" <kappa_2k@yahoo.com> To: <suse-security@suse.com> Sent: Sunday, May 06, 2001 7:01 PM Subject: [suse-security] help :(

What's about the ipchains module? It's a compatibility module. Load it by "modprobe ipchains" and your old ipchains-script will work fine. But ... (there always seems to be a BUT!) there are some 2.2.x modules like ip_ftp.....o which aren't supported anymore. Perhaps take a look at iptables! It's the new tool you are looking for.
