This can happen if you have a .rhost (s?) file, which specifies which users are allowed to connect from where - without authorization. But if you haven't intentionally set this up, I doubt it is part of the auto install process. Nick Paul Carruthers wrote:
I have got a old box which was running suse 5.x and has ( last night ) been upgraded to Suse7 All went very well despite a few silly things. However something odd is now happening... if I telnet to the box it only asks for a username at logon rather than username and a password ?
