Hi Christof,
i am sorry, if i am wrong and it isn't a security question at all. But maybe i made a mistake while i was trying to update my SuSE 8.0 System by Yast and 'Online Update'. I tried 'auto update' and 'manual update' with different ftp-Servers: Patch-Descriptions were downloaded to 100%, but the next step: installation brake down (after yast-module-autoinst-833 is not downable -> installation). At least Online Update shows a list of 63 recommended patches and 95 security patches, but i can't get them. What did i do wrong?
--> Which server did you use ? Have you tried to repeat it with another server ? In Germany, I would recommend ftp.gwdg.de ; if this doesn't work, use ftp.suse.com which is sometimes more up-to-date than the mirrors (it takes some time for the new files to make it to all mirrors). Strangely enough, my 8.0 systems show in /var/lib/YaST/patches/i386/update/8.0/patches/ yast2-module-autoinst-833.20030425.new yast2-module-autoinst-834.20030115.installed So version 834 seems to be older than version 833. Strange numbering. And why is 833 not installed ? Sorry for not giving more help; now I'm wondering too what's going on there. Maybe someone on this list can help.
