Hi Wilfried, check your /etc/ssh/sshd_config file for a line like this PermitRootLogin no if you are trying to login as root, ssh will denied if you have PermitRootLogin to false. Also note that remote login as root is a bad practice: it's better to login as a normal user and then use su or sudo when you have to perform root commands. rcheers, /valter On Thu, 2002-07-04 at 15:17, Wilfried Philippi wrote:
Hello,
i have a problem with SuSe 8.0 and sshd or telnet. On the Serverconsole a login as root or user is possible and i can login but over the Network it doesn't work ..... What is wrong? I use Putty as Client on the Windows site. The Login Screen appears with login: and Password: I give the Username and the Password and then comes Access denied. Both the Username and Password are correct. Thanks for your Help. Wilfried
