OT? updates for SLES

hi list, little question: when i get a sles with 1 year subscription it meen i can get updates only for year and buy the a further subscription or does the subscription only effect servicepacks and not security fixes ? i know, sounds like a stupid question but i havent found something about it at forums and lists archive greetings andy ASCII ribbon campaign ( ) - against HTML email X & vCards / \
