harden_suse is making changes in /etc/ssh/sshd_config and this is your problem I have the same situation 2 weeks ago No remote ssh connection as root nor "su" command works. PF

I am far away from an expert to SuSEfirewall2 but everything You do not permit explicitly, is forbidden.
If I am right You have to open port 22 on both, internal and external interface. [...]
