Does ./7.1/a1/glibc-2.2-22.i386.rpm (dated August 6) contain the `correct' fix for the xdr_array-issue or the `defective' patch you mentioned?
No published patch in the update directory on the ftp server is incorrect or defective.
Sorry, I didn't want to be offending. ;-) It's still unclear to me, because: - Aug 02 2002: ChangeLog entry for ./7.1/a1/glibc-2.2-22.i386.rpm - Aug 06 2002: mtime of ./7.1/a1/glibc-2.2-22.i386.rpm on ftp-server - Aug 30 2002: SuSE-SA:2002:031 published, saying: * The update packages for the SuSE Linux distributions 7.0 and 7.1 have not been built yet. The packages for these distributions will be published in approximately two weeks (mid September) from now. On Aug 30, ./7.1/a1/glibc-2.2-22.i386.rpm was already on the ftp-servers (IIRC). Therefore I still don't understand whether or not this package is the one that was supposed to be `published [...] mid September'. Thanks for your patience.
