Have you got any control characters in your password? I've seen that on NCD X-Terminals, that wouldn't accept any double quotes (or was it $?) in any password. Got them square somehow. Only solution was to change the password from another terminal to one that didn't contain that character.

Hi list my password has only eight character in the range [a-z]. Thomas
