HAH! Why isn't this like, standard?!? *g
Hope I didn't get anything wrong...
probably my browser has a problem and does not show it correctly. I was more thinking about the option to enter a search string like it is possible e.g. with the proftpd or securityfocus archives. Or like SuSEs SDB. So if the original poster had searched for "ftpd" he would have seen all the prior discussions and conclusions and that had saved him and us a lot of time (and bandwidth). I know the SuSE people do a great job and have a lot of work and bandwidth is expensive, i do not ask for it, it is just an item on my wishlist ;). To get back to the topic: wasn´t there a project for a kernel level ftpd? And: I found a SuSE security announcement from June 27th 2000 from Thomas Biege regarding a possible root compromise in wu-ftpd < 2.6.0-121 with the recommendation to use the "audited 2.4er version". Is this 2.4 version the one someone referenced here bevore, that had no security issues in the last about 30 months? TIA mike
