3M Volition NIC's in a SuSE 8.2

Hi, some friends of mine and I are managing the network of a student's residence and our predecessors decided to use the 3M Volition fibre system instead of twisted pair. Right now we'd like to setup a new server with a SuSE 8.2. The only problem ist that we can't get the 3M Volition NIC's to work. Has anyone ever tried this successfully? Many Thanks, Simon
