Some possibilities are existing.

At first the re-export doesn't work in 6.3

At second you might have running kernel NFS. In that case you might try the commands kexportfs -a kexportfs -r

Thanks for the help. Found my mistake. In SuSE 6.3 the dirs for the newly created users are created with 700. So I got to set it to 755 to get to look into those directories. (When did that change, in SuSE 6.2 my new home-directories are being created with 755). Sorry for the inconviniences cya jochen
