SIGILL with mariadb

Hello people, I'm debugging a weird SIGILL issue in mariadb on my VisionFive 2 and would appreciate some help here - please see https://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1219684#c1 My assessment so far: mariadb on the VisionFive2 crashes with a SIGILL on the "rdcycle" instruction. Looking at the RISC-V instruction set documentation this looks like a rather basic extension, which I ASSUME (!!) should be part of the architecture we build. Looking at the Upstream Integration plan of the JH7110 [1] however shows that the Timer patches are not yet upstreamed, so I concluded that the issue might arise from a yet incomplete kernel implementation. Tumbleweed on VisionFive2

Hello, I recently tried to get Tumbleweed running on the VisionFive2 according to https://en.opensuse.org/HCL:VisionFive2 and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qrly2gV-wMA with no luck. Flashed the openSUSE-Tumbleweed-RISC-V-JeOS-starfivevisionfive2.riscv64-2023.10.11-Build21.81.raw.xz file to a SD Card and booted the device - The RGPIO bins are in the correct configuration only to discover ... Nothing. Admittedly I haven't attached a UART terminal adapter, but assumed that or the HDMI output shows something or the device would appear on the network. It didn't either, so I assume the image simply won't work, or I am doing something fundamentally wrong. Has anyone had any luck in getting Tumbleweed running on a VisionFive2 already? Best, phoenix

Issues with local builds using qemu

Hello, I spent a long time struggling with some OBS issues, so I decided to document my fix/workaround here: https://en.opensuse.org/openSUSE:RISC-V#Build_Service I was having trouble getting packages to build locally as described on the wiki: osc checkout openSUSE:Factory:RISCV/u-boot cd openSUSE:Factory:RISCV/u-boot osc build --local-package --vm-type=qemu standard riscv64 What actually happens is qemu-system-x86_64 gets started which is totally wrong. I waded into the obs-build code and realized it was detecting the QEMU machine type to use based on the .build.hostarch.kvm file installed by kernel-obs- build. Then I checked my buildinfo and found this suspicious line: <bdep name="kernel-obs-build" vminstall="1" notmeta="1" version="6.6.2" release="1.1" arch="x86_64" hdrmd5="1495a9ca1e882f15589477d9de8a6005" project="openSUSE:Factory:RISCV" repository="standard"/> I tried to figure out why OBS is selecting the x86_64, but got lost in the Perl. Eventually I just decided to try the native repo and it worked... I didn't hit this problem with ARM, so I'm wondering: is this a bug or a feature? Thanks! Kind regards, Matt

Improving Allwinner D1 support

Hello, I'm interested in improving the Allwinner D1 support currently in devel:RISCV:Factory:Contrib:AllwinnerD1. Initially I would focus on the Lichee RV boards. I think I need to do something like this: - Update u-boot package - Update kernel package - Test - Request the necessary kernel config changes in the kernel-source git repo - Submit u-boot-lichee-* subpackage enablement to Factory - Submit minimum JeOS to openSUSE:Factory:RISCV after the above two changes land After that I would like to create a contrib-style kernel with (some of) the not-yet-mainlined patches that are floating around. I learned a lot about OBS and the kernel build process with my Orange Pi 3 LTS experiments (home:matthewtrescott:opi3-lts) and I think I can do the work... I just would like some feedback/advice on this plan. Especially since I see someone has already been working on it. :) Thanks! Kind regards, Matt

Build issue on Mozilla Thunderbird

Hello everyone, I'm trying to fix Mozilla Thunderbird on RISC-V. When building cargo dependencies, cargo tells me these: error[E0432]: unresolved imports `super::hidwrapper::_HIDIOCGRDESC`, `super::hidwrapper::_HIDIOCGRDESCSIZE` --> /home/abuild/rpmbuild/BUILD/thunderbird-91.6.1/third_party/rust/authenticator/src/linux/hidraw.rs:11:25 | 11 | use super::hidwrapper::{_HIDIOCGRDESC, _HIDIOCGRDESCSIZE}; | ^^^^^^^^^^^^^ ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ no `_HIDIOCGRDESCSIZE` in `platform::hidwrapper` | | | no `_HIDIOCGRDESC` in `platform::hidwrapper` But this error never occurred on other platform like amd64. RISC-V membership

Hi all, as you may have noticed, SUSE logo now appears among RISC-V International Members at https://riscv.org/members/. One aspect of this membership is that SUSE can ask for RISC-V development boards that are offered by hardware members, and SUSE has also requested some on behalf of the openSUSE project. The deadline was a bit too tight this time, so a small group (Darren, Matthias, Andreas and myself) made our best guess at what would be useful. FYI this has been requested specifically for openSUSE: Beagle 8B: 4pc D1 2G: 2pc Polarfire 2GB: 3pc Unmatched 16G: 4pc Ant 8G: 2pc Ant enclosure: 2pc picoRIOS: 4pc When (and if) these development boards arrive, they should become available to openSUSE developers for ... well, distribution development, of course. ;-) Until then, we can continue testing with our Beagle V's and emulators. In general, hardware is of course available from multiple manufacturers (StarFive, SiFive, Allwinner, Microchip), although AFAICS only StarFive JH7110 can be easily obtained, just go get a BeagleV. If you're talking about availability to the openSUSE project, then that's not yet available.
