[Bug 26702] New: radeonhd window redraw issues for opengl applications
http://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=26702 Summary: radeonhd window redraw issues for opengl applications Product: xorg Version: 7.4 Platform: Other OS/Version: All Status: NEW Severity: major Priority: medium Component: Driver/radeonhd AssignedTo: eich@pdx.freedesktop.org ReportedBy: darren@dvhart.com QAContact: xorg-team@lists.x.org Created an attachment (id=33494) --> (http://bugs.freedesktop.org/attachment.cgi?id=33494) screenshot of radeon hd redraw issues Note: I'd appreciate help coming up with a more accurate Summary. OS: Ubuntu 9.10 Arch: x86 (32 bit) Card: 01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: ATI Technologies Inc M56GL [Mobility FireGL V5200] xserver-xorg: 7.4 Compiz: Enabled Various OpenGL application seem to have serious window painting issues whenever some kind of expose event occurs. Windows will sometimes remain black until resized, others will leave garbage on the screen when moved around. Redraws for underlying windows will often result in corruption of the top level opengl window. See the attached image for examples with wings3d and glxgears. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.freedesktop.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are the QA contact for the bug. _______________________________________________ xorg-team mailing list xorg-team@lists.x.org http://lists.x.org/mailman/listinfo/xorg-team -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: radeonhd+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: radeonhd+help@opensuse.org

DRI1 does not work with compositing. You need DRI2 which in the radeon case, requires xf86-video-ati and KMS drm support.
Is "xf86-video-ati" the same as what is provided by the "xserver-xor-video-ati" package, namely: /usr/lib/xorg/modules/drivers/ati_drv.so. I apparently confused myself from previous uses of radeonhd, according the Xorg.0.log: (==) Matched ati for the autoconfigured driver (==) Assigned the driver to the xf86ConfigLayout (II) LoadModule: "ati" So I suppose I am using "ati". It also loads "radeon": (II) LoadModule: "radeon" (II) Loading /usr/lib/xorg/modules/drivers//radeon_drv.so (II) Module radeon: vendor="X.Org Foundation" As for DRI2 and KMS drm... how do I go about determining what I have now. Are these typically upstream only or have they reached the distributions yet? -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.freedesktop.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are the QA contact for the bug. _______________________________________________ xorg-team mailing list xorg-team@lists.x.org http://lists.x.org/mailman/listinfo/xorg-team -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: radeonhd+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: radeonhd+help@opensuse.org

Yes.
(==) Matched ati for the autoconfigured driver (==) Assigned the driver to the xf86ConfigLayout (II) LoadModule: "ati"
So I suppose I am using "ati". It also loads "radeon":
ati is just a wrapper. It loads radeon (for radeon chips) or r128 or mach64 (for older chips).
(II) LoadModule: "radeon" (II) Loading /usr/lib/xorg/modules/drivers//radeon_drv.so (II) Module radeon: vendor="X.Org Foundation"
As for DRI2 and KMS drm... how do I go about determining what I have now. Are these typically upstream only or have they reached the distributions yet?
Right now Fedora 12 is the only released distro shipping with KMS by default. Others offer it as an option. For more info, see the KMS section of this page: http://wiki.x.org/wiki/radeonBuildHowTo -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.freedesktop.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are the QA contact for the bug. _______________________________________________ xorg-team mailing list xorg-team@lists.x.org http://lists.x.org/mailman/listinfo/xorg-team -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: radeonhd+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: radeonhd+help@opensuse.org
