X1650PRO dual-head problem
I've been using the radeonhd driver on Fedora 8 to drive my dual-head setup for a while now. Lately, I've noticed an extremely frustrating problem. I don't know if the problem has only started recently, or if I've only started noticing it. Every once in a while, with no detectable pattern, my 1680x1050 display will start "shaking" and/or "blacking out". Hopefully, "shaking" is self-explanatory; when the display "blacks out", it goes completely dark for a 1/2 second or so and then comes back. Neither of these problems ever appears on my other display, a 1280x1024 LCD. The adapter is a dual-DVI Saphire X1650PRO (RV535). Both displays are DVI-connected. Search the radeonhd manpage for "UseAtomBIOS" - maybe that options helps
you, maybe not. But please tell us the outcome.
Just a vague idea

Your vague idea is right on.
