Re: [radeonhd] severe performance problems after commit ed98d731 (enable EXA default)

attached is a "good" and a "bad" Xorg.log ... I use default openSuSE 11.2 milestone5/6 configuration with kernel 2.6.31-rc6-3

: My on-board radeon HD2100 (AMD 740G chipset) worked reasonably well with the git version of the radeonhd driver, that is: until commit ed98d7311d021849993ac764b2caffd6ddceeb2a (enable EXA). The new driver slows down the system dramatically...
Were you running with DRI and EXA enabled previously? Kernel version?
You don't appear to have the required DRM kernel module running (radeon), and hence not everything is accelerated with EXA enabled. This sometimes makes certain things even slower than just software. The driver is behaving as expected as far as I can see, although apparently not in the most desirable way in this case. -- Yang Zhao http://yangman.ca

It might be a reasonable idea to change back to shadowfb if DRM is not
loaded on R6xx, otherwise user experience will be truly bad.
What do you think?

This is an isolated incident as far as I can see. Lets wait some more, first. -- Yang Zhao http://yangman.ca -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: radeonhd+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: radeonhd+help@opensuse.org
