0x9540:0x1458:0x21AE: Gigabyte GV-R455D3-512I
Hi, I have a Gigabyte GV-R455D3-512I which is essentially a Radeon HD 4550 graphics card. It's not quite operating properly, particularly when connected to two monitors. However, I have a probably-not-very-common setup and this might be causing the issue somehow, and it may not necessarily be a bug in the radeonhd driver. So, I'm not sure, and hopefully you can point me in the right direction to investigate further. Hardware setup: Dell 640m laptop with an Intel 945GM integrated graphics card ATI Radeon HD4550 connected via an Expresscard-to-PCIe 1x adapter The hardware seems to be working properly, and the radeonhd driver mostly works with a single monitor. Software setup: Ubuntu Hardy Heron - linux 2.6.24 ish - xserver-xorg 1:7.3+10ubuntu10.2 - xserver-xorg-core 2:1.4.1~git20080131-ubuntu9.2 with xserver-xorg-video-ati 1:6.12.1-0ubuntu1~hardy from https://launchpad.net/~tormodvolden/+archive/ppa XOrg.0.log also says: (II) RADEONHD(1): Unknown card detected: 0x9540:0x1458:0x21AE. If - and only if - your card does not work or does not work optimally please contact radeonhd@opensuse.org to help rectify this. Use the subject: 0x9540:0x1458:0x21AE: <name of board> and *please* describe the problems you are seeing in your message. so you probably should at least update your hardware ID numbers. When I have a single monitor attached to the Radeon, I can change the screen resolution with command line xrandr. When I have two monitors attached to the HD 4550, and I log into Gnome/X, my mouse cursor stays within Screen 0 (the Intel graphics) and I can't move over to focus onto Screen 1 (the Radeon). If I have one monitor attached, and I log into Gnome/X, I can move my mouse between Screen 0 and Screen 1 (so I can do stuff on Screen 1) However, if I then attach the second monitor to the Radeon, I cannot set the second monitor to a non-Off resolution from command line xrandr. (Throughout this, there is no external monitor attached to the Intel 945GM, only the laptop's internal LVDS). Is it possible I need an up-to-date xserver-org-core? Or perhaps the HD 4550 isn't well supported by radeonhd at the moment? I can also provide logs and re-do my testing if required, but I didn't want to jump the gun yet. Thanks for any help you can provide. Beng Tan -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: radeonhd+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: radeonhd+help@opensuse.org

Multicard setups are unfortunately not very well supported in current
Xorg. You can be lucky if it somewhat works at all...
Sorry

Hi,
Yeah, fair enough.
Well, I've returned the other monitor so I don't have multiple
monitors to test with at the moment.
Next week, my new monitor should arrive and I'll do some more testing.
Thank you,
Beng
